Dan Ripley, Esq.

Dan Ripley has spent almost two decades fighting for people accused or convicted of crimes throughout Florida. A former Assistant Public Defender in Palm Beach and Pinellas Counties, Dan has tried and litigated thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies.

Today, Dan focuses his practice on helping clients overturn wrongful convictions and reduce unjust sentences through post-conviction motions and appeals. He has filed hundreds of motions and petitions across Florida—including Rule 3.850 and 3.800 motions, habeas corpus petitions, and conviction reviews—helping many clients return home to their families.

Dan earned his law degree with honors from Florida State University College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He lives in St. Petersburg with his wife Jessica, and their two children.

Amy Bowen

Case Manager

Amy Bowen brings more than 20 years of paralegal and case management experience to Ripley Law, PLLC. Throughout her career, she has served in key roles across the State Attorney’s Office, the District Court, the Office of the Attorney General, and the Department of Children and Families, developing a deep understanding of the legal system from multiple perspectives.

Known for her professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail, Amy takes pride in guiding clients and their families through some of the most challenging times of their lives. Her experience in both criminal and administrative matters allows her to support each case with care, precision, and a personal commitment to achieving the best possible outcome.

Amy’s dedication to helping others is at the heart of Ripley Law’s mission—to provide clients not only strong legal representation, but also understanding and support every step of the way.

Erica Chong

Legal Assistant

Erica balances her full-time enrollment at the University of South Florida with her role at the firm.  She is a versatile team member who assists in preparing mitigation presentations, drafting and editing motions, and serves as a direct point of contact with many of our clients.

Jonathan Kornexl

Head Paralegal

Jonathan Kornexl is a paralegal with nearly two decades of experience working within Florida’s criminal justice system. After being incarcerated as a teenager, Jonathan dedicated his time in prison to studying the law, becoming a Certified Law Clerk, and helping countless inmates gain their freedom through post-conviction litigation.

With significant firsthand knowledge of the Florida Department of Corrections, and familiarity with both state and federal legal processes, Jonathan brings a unique perspective and unmatched determination to every case. His work is driven by a passion for justice and a belief that redemption and second chances are possible for everyone.

Jonathan is currently pursuing his Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies at St. Petersburg College and aspires to become an attorney in the State of Florida. He continues to mentor and inspire individuals still behind bars, reminding them that incarceration can be a new beginning—not the end.

Jessica Ripley serves as the Office Administrator for Ripley Law, PLLC, where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm and supervises staff to ensure efficient, client-centered service. Jessica plays a key role in developing firm resources, strengthening client communication, and supporting the overall growth and direction of the practice.

A graduate of the University of Florida and Stetson University College of Law, Jessica brings both legal expertise and administrative leadership to her role. Before joining Ripley Law, she spent ten years as an Assistant Public Defender, where she managed the operations of the Mental Health Division and represented clients facing some of the most complex and sensitive criminal matters in the system. In addition to her work with Ripley Law, Jessica also serves as a Supervising Lead Trial Attorney for Children’s Legal Services where she continues her commitment to advocacy, compassion, and justice for Florida’s most vulnerable populations.

Jessica’s unique combination of legal experience, management skill, and dedication to client care make her an integral part of Ripley Law’s mission to provide both strong representation and meaningful support to every client and family the firm serves.
